How to Pledge Your Support for the Building for the Future Campaign

The total goal of our Building for the Future Campaign is $1 million. Every member of our parish faith community is invited to participate by making a gift or pledge according to their financial ability. Participation by as many as possible will ensure the success of our campaign.

Some may wish to make a one-time gift. Others may want to make a pledge that will be paid over a period of one to five years. The table below is offered as a guide in considering your gift, with the understanding that no contribution is too small. Those who have been so blessed are invited to consider a large gift.

Above all, let us prayerfully consider the gift we can make, considering the words of Saint Paul in his second letter to the Corinthians:
"Consider this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each must do as already determined, without sadness or compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. Moreover, God is able to make every grace abundant for you, so that in all things, always having all you need, you may have an abundance for every good work."

Parish Support for the Secondary Education Initiative
Three years ago, Saint Brigid Parish set a goal of raising $1 million for the Diocese of San Diego Secondary Education Initiative, established to fund the building of three new diocesan Catholic High Schools. The parish is in the third year of a five-year commitment to contribute funds in excess of the Annual Catholic Appeal assessment to the SEI.

The Building for the Future Campaign seeks to raise $500,000 in support of the parish goal for the SEI. Saint Brigid Parish joins many other parishes in the diocese in this approach to supporting Catholic high school education in the Diocese of San Diego.

Why a New Rectory?
The current rectory contains ample living quarters for the pastor and two associate pastors currently assigned to Saint Brigid Parish. In addition, the rectory has two guest bedrooms, a large kitchen, and a living and dining area. Therefore, a new rectory is NOT needed simply to provide a residence for the priests.

In the Spring of 2005, an ad hoc committee was established by the parish finance council to review parish facilities. A report was presented by the committee on July 28, 2005. The report concluded that the most important parish facility issue was the need for additional office space, counseling/private meeting space, and small group meeting rooms.

This need, along with a layout of all current parish buildings, was presented to an architect for his review and recommendations. Buildings owned by the parish include two small houses that are immediately to the east of the parish hall and are located one behind the other between Missouri Street and the alley leading into the parish parking lot.

The architect recommended that a new rectory for priests be built adjacent to the parish hall by renovating the two small homes, thereby enabling the current rectory to be converted to parish use for offices, small group meeting rooms, and social gatherings of parish groups.

This recommendation was unanimously supported by the parish finance and pastoral councils. An architect was contracted to develop a preliminary design for the new rectory, which will include suites for two priests, a guest bedroom, and common kitchen and living/dining area.

Once the new rectory is built, expected to be completed in the summer of 2007, the current rectory can be converted to four offices, up to six rooms for small group meetings, and a kitchen and dining area that can accommodate social gatherings of up to 40 people.

Our campaign seeks to raise $500,000 in support of the new rectory construction project.
