In 2004, the United Nations AIDS organization and UNICEF each announced that their top priority for addressing the AIDS pandemic and poverty was to focus on the development of young women and elevating their social status.
In 2000, the Canossian Daughters of Charity discerned that the best way to combat the multiple problems faced in Malawi was to focus on the development of young women and elevating their social status, by building a secondary school and technical college. There is a shortage of schools and qualified teachers. There are 4000 Elementary schools and only 1000 secondary schools in Malawi. The literacy rate for women is 43%, while it is 73% for men.

Vision:
This work is intended to open new doors to many young women immediately, as well as work to elevate the status of women and their expectations for themselves over several generations at a time. They expect to have a positive impact on the children of their students, and their children's children.
As these women attain their full potential with the help of the school, they will transform their families, communities, and nation. With each graduation, a wave of diligent and dedicated agents of change will ripple through Malawi, slowly raising the standard of values and acceptable behavior.
Your Donation: Past donations have been used to buy textbooks, pay school fees ($50 for a 3 month term that includes lunch) for the poorest students that live near the school, install a manual water pump, and develop and maintain the school infrastructure
