Bakhita Primary School

Summary:

Bakhita Primary School
Run by the Canossian Daughters of Charity

Information:
Primary education is subsidized by the Malawi Government and is free. There are no definite qualifications required for teachers. Most of the teaching is done in Chichewa, but the official language of the country is English, and all of the government exams are given in English.

Vision:
The sisters are working to provide a basic primary education (up to 8th grade) to students, in English, that will make them more successful in being able to score high enough on government exams to qualify for the government sponsored secondary schools and to enable them to be more successful in secondary school. Religious education and Bible knowledge is also a part of the curriculum.

Your Donation:
Past donations have been used to buy textbooks, pay school fees ($35 for a 3 month term that includes lunch) for the poorest students that live near the school, install a manual water pump, and develop and maintain the school infrastructure.
