Mission to Africa - 2006
Summary:
A group of about 15 people went on a "Mission Awareness" trip to Malawi and Nigeria. The purpose of the trip was to raise awareness of what life is like in Africa and to learn about and help the various missions that are in place to improve life in Africa.
We visited mission schools, hospitals, orphanages, a prison half-way house, mental hospital, cultural museums, and wildlife preserves. We took a tour of each facility and visited with the missionaries who have committed their lives to a vision for addressing a need in the society in order to make Jesus known and loved to many people.
We were not be at any one place long enough to build relationships and take on a piece of work ourselves, but we have been able to make a financial contribution to the mission to ensure sustainability to each effort. Each person going on the trip agreed to raise at least as much money in donations for the missions as we were going to be spending on ourselves for the trip. 100% of the money donated was given to the missions that we visited.
