"Love one another as I have loved you....."  John 13:34

This is something that I wrote last night before I went to bed.  Thought I'd share it....

A message from the heart of a (street) child:

If you love me the way that Jesus loves you,
You will look at me with eyes of kindness and compassion,

If you love me the way that Jesus loves you,
You will not look down on me if my clothes are tattered and dirty, or my hair is uncombed,

If you love me the way that Jesus loves you,
You will see the good in me, even when I can not see it within myself,

If you love me the way that Jesus loves you,
You will sing with me, dance with me, laugh with me, play with me, and when I fall, you will be there to pick me up.

If you love me the way that Jesus loves you,
You will believe in me, even when all others have lost hope,

If you love me the way that Jesus loves you,
You will stand by me, even amidst my failures and shortcomings,

If you love me the way that Jesus loves you,
You will comfort me in times of sorrow and celebrate with me in times of joy.

If you love me the way that Jesus loves you,
You will forgive me, and receive me with open arms, even when I disappoint you or wander astray,

If you love me the way that Jesus loves you,
You will be patient with me at times when I falter or stumble,

If you love me the way that Jesus loves you,
You will gently guide me in the ways of Truth, and walk beside me while I learn the lessons that I must learn.

If you love me the way that Jesus loves you,
You will be a light for me in times of darkness.

If you love me the way that Jesus loves you,
You will lay down your life for me and not count the cost.
