Hi all! Greetings from India! Just a quick e-mail to let you all know I made it here safely. The plane ride was long, but the reception that I received when I arrived here was so beautiful and heart-warming! The director of the program met me at the airport with 8 of the little children and some of the caretakers. When I arrived at the home where I will be staying the children greeted me with special welcoming songs and dances! Talk about adorable!!!
I am presently in awe of all the different sights, and sounds of India...lots of cows walking down the roads everywhere amidst rickshaws, families on motorbikes, buffalos, goats, etc. I LOVE IT! Each drive is an adventure! Beautiful lush greenery, mountains, and a huge river, all nearby.
I visited several of the other children's homes today in addition to a health clinic that is being built. The children are already teaching me Hindi and Assamese! The director of the program took the 3 photos of me below yesterday right after I arrived! I will try to send some more soon! I will write again when I can!
